What is Community Fundraising?

Community Fundraising is a way for charities to raise funds via volunteers, events and groups. It’s often also known as Regional Fundraising in that it’s all about raising money across a geographical area as opposed to fundraising from a central office.
It’s a highly effective form of income generation if done well. More importantly it provides a steady stream of funding. Lots of events trickling in money over the course of the year can allow charities to plan long-term instead of having a glut of money from one big event and then quiet times afterwards.
Community Fundraising is even more useful during times of recession, such as nowadays. It’s much easier to get hundreds of small donations for a sponsored event, cake bake, carol service or similar than it is to ask people who are feeling the pinch to sign up for a monthly direct debit.
